Asa Aarons – Consumer Reporter
Asa Aarons is NY1's Consumer Reporter. He joined NY1 in February of 2009 and covered employment issues for two years.
Aarons has spent more than 20 years as a TV reporter and newspaper columnist, helping viewers, readers, and web users save money and avoid scams. At the New York Daily News, he wrote a weekly column that addressed reader concerns.
In his previous stint at WNBC, he worked as a consumer reporter for more than a decade. He led led WNBC's consumer unit and created the "Ask Asa" brand, which evolved into a slogan for consumers in search of help.
Over the years Aarons has received numerous Emmy awards for his work. He also won a Gold World Medal in the 2009 New York Festivals International Television Programming and Promotion Awards, and first place in the 2009 New York Association of Black Journalists competition for his reports in a series of documentaries on Poverty in America for the HDNews Network.
Aarons began his career as a professional photographer.
