Lily Jamali – Criminal Justice Reporter
Lily Jamali was named NY1's Criminal Justice reporter in January 2009. She joined the newschannel in July 2007, covering breaking news as a General Assignment reporter.

During her time with the station, Jamali has reported on the fatal crane collapse on Manhattan's Upper East Side, the strike that left Broadway dark for nearly three weeks, and the first tornado to strike Brooklyn in more than a century.

In 2006, she attended the National Press Photographer's Association TV NewsVideo workshop in Norman, Oklahoma, where she was honored with the Paul Threlfall Award.

Before moving to New York, Jamali worked as a producer and reporter at KRCR in Redding, California. At KRCR, Jamali covered wildfires, local and state politics, and cutbacks to mental health services. She also traveled to New Orleans where she filed stories for the six-month anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.

Jamali, who speaks Spanish, French, and Farsi, holds a B.A. in English from UCLA and an M.S. in Journalism from Columbia University.

At Columbia, she earned the Leslie Sander Social Justice Award for a documentary she co-produced about the return of Irish immigrants from the North Bronx to Ireland.
