Whether you want to ride the water taxi to Brooklyn or if you're already there and looking for a new neighborhood watering hole, there are plenty of wonderful ways to spend an evening in Red Hook, Brooklyn.

TINI
414 Van Brunt Street
Brooklyn, New York
(718) 855-4206

Zagat says treats come in teeny packages at this intimate wine bar. Patrons praise the organic, biodynamic vinos on the 55-label wine list, rotating global microbrews and snacks such as accompanying cheese plates and inventive flatbreads. The interior features an industrial steel bar and white couch where you can linger for hours.

TINI is not yet rated in the Zagat guide but prices are listed as moderate.

Moonshine
317 Columbia Street
Brooklyn, New York
(718) 422-0563

Zagat says Red Hook locals flock to this joint which boasts a "great bourbon selection" and "cheap canned brews." Fans love the "country classics" on the juke box, summer "beer garden" with grills you can use to host your own BBQ and free pool on Sundays.

Some warn Moonshine is in a "transportation black hole" but add that's to be expected for a "diamond in the rough."

Out of a possible 30, Moonshine gets a 19 for appeal, a 16 for décor and a 23 for service. The average price of a drink is listed as $5.
