Students and faculty gathered Friday to remember the 47 people from Pace University who died 10 years ago.

A ceremony was held to honor the four students and 43 alumni who lost their lives and the many who continue to suffer serious health problems.

Administrators and students recounted personal experiences and honored the bravery of those who stepped up to help others in need.

"While we mourn our losses, we celebrate the rebirth of the spirit of the survivors and the rebirth of Downtown Manhattan, as well," said Stephen Friedman, president of Pace University.

In 2001, Pace volunteered its space to assist victims and first responders in the days following the attacks.
