NY1 VIDEO: As part of its 9/11 tenth anniversary coverage, NY1 takes a look back at reporter Jill Scott's September 20, 2001, story about students at the al-noor school in Brooklyn who soon found themselves singled out because of their religion.

NY1 FOLLOW-UP: According to the NYPD, the city saw a dramatic spike in anti-Muslim incidents after the attacks with 90 incidents reported between September 11th and the end of that year. That's compared to just seven incidents in the first eight months of 2001. In the years since, the numbers have fallen dramatically to approximately 10 or fewer incidents a year. This year, there have been 13.
