Hunger advocates are asking New Yorkers to make a New Year's resolution to volunteer.
The New York City Coalition Against Hunger launched a new volunteer matching website Tuesday.
The site lets people search for volunteer opportunities at soup kitchens in their area -- that fit their schedule.
"We're sending the message today that pantries and kitchens often have all the volunteers that they need around the holidays. But now that the holidays are over, they really need the help," said Joel Berg of the NYC Coalition Against Hunger. "So we're asking all New Yorkers to make a New Year's resolution to volunteer to fight hunger."
"Everybody can make a difference," said Queens Councilman Eric Gioia. "What this website does is match the help to people who need the help."
