Five people are dead and two more are fighting for their lives following a multiple-car accident Sunday afternoon in the Bronx.

The accident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. on the Bronx River Parkway between exits 5 and 6, near 177th Street.

Police say a 1994 Acura Legend with seven occupants flipped over the center divider and collided in the opposite lane with a black Lincoln Towncar, a Toyota Corolla, and a minivan.

Four victims died at the scene, while another died after being rushed to an area hospital.

In addition to the five fatalities, eleven people were taken to Jacobi Medical Center with injuries.

Two of those injured are listed in critical condition, but police say the remaining injuries are not life-threatening.
