Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez joined a team of volunteers to help City Harvest bring dinner to families residents in the Far Rockaway section of Queens on Tuesday night.

Sanchez served up warm meals from Dinosaur Barbecue at P.S. 215 and said he was happy to help out.

"The most important thing is to make sure people have a hot meal in times like this around Thanksgiving and the holidays, especially after the tragedy of Sandy. So we're just doing our best to give back," Sanchez said. "I wore my Jets gear and wanted to let these people know that we think about them while we're playing and it just give us great perspective on what else is going on outside of football."

"The community needed this. It was uplifting," said one attendee.

"They were just thrilled. We've been out here for hours waiting, so yes, everyone's excited that Mark came," said another.

City Harvest has been providing emergency food drop-offs in the hardest-hit areas of the five boroughs.

Sanchez and many of his teammates have been helping with relief efforts throughout the region since the storm hit.
