Vintage refrigerators kept it cool in Washington Square Tuesday, as Con Edison opened a pop-up museum as a way of reminding customers about its freezer and refrigerator recycling program.

The company will cart away the old appliance and pay $50 for it. Since old fridges can be an electricity drain, it's also a way to save a few dollars.

"It's obviously a very efficient and a very effective way to reduce their bill. And one of the other benefits is its environmental benefit, because the refrigerator is not only removed from their home, but it's very effectively recycled,” said a Con Ed representative.
