One man died and another was wounded after a shooting in East Harlem Wednesday.
Police say Laquan Parks, 28, was sitting shortly after noon outside the Jackie Robinson Houses on East 128th Street with Maurice Edwards, a rapper known as "Bigga Threat," when a man came by on a bicycle and shot both men.
Parks was shot once in the head and pronounced dead at the scene.
Edwards, 35, was shot in the leg and was taken to Harlem Hospital for treatment.
Parks' family members said they did not understand why anyone would want to harm him.
"I can't really explain it. It's just unbelievable," said Chanel Dargan, Parks' sister. "I don't really have no words. I just know we love and miss him so much, and it wasn't for him."
"It's very sad because this is where he was born and raised at, and he has to go in this way, you know?" said Jeremy Coran, Parks' cousin. "He was loved around the community. He was loved everywhere."
Friends and family set up a makeshift memorial at the crime scene Wednesday night.
No arrests had been made as of late Wednesday.
