The Metropolitan Opera spread some holiday cheer Thursday to dozens of city schoolchildren.

A group of fourth and fifth graders were treated to a free dress rehearsal performance of the holiday classic "The Magic Flute."

Many students gave it rave reviews.

"I thought it was mind-blowing. It was like, really good effects and even for a dress rehearsal, it was really amazing," said one student.

"It was great. It must have taken a long time. It just couldn't have been better," said another.

"I would like to say that anyone else who wants to come to an opera should come to an opera, especially this one 'cause this one rocks and I hope you love the colors of it," said a third.

The students also met with members of the cast and received a behind the scenes tour of the sets.
