Sandra Lee, Governor-elect Andrew Cuomo's leading lady, who is about to be crowned the state's "first girlfriend," spent Friday hobnobbing with New York City's "first girlfriend," Diana Taylor. NY1's Grace Rauh filed the following report.

The "first girlfriends" club of New York is about to get bigger. Food Network star Sandra Lee is on her way to becoming the state's leading lady. She's not married to Governor-elect Andrew Cuomo, but like Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his longtime girlfriend Diana Taylor, the two are a serious item.

"I am going to do everything I can to support Andrew, and to make sure that he's happy and to make sure he's in a great way to make everything happen for New Yorkers," said Lee.

Cuomo and Lee were side-by-side on Election Night, but she is not expected to have an official role in the new administration.

Not that she'd have time for it anyway -- she's the host of two television shows, she has her own magazine and she's authored 17 books. Her boyfriend is also pretty busy.

"I can tell you that the minute he walked off that stage when he was governor-elect, he started working," says Lee.

He's not working so hard that they haven't seen each other.

"Yes, I've seen him. Sometimes at 2 a.m., 'Hi honey, are you hungry?' It's all good," said Lee.

In a move sure to raise eyebrows, powerful lobbyist Suri Kasirer acted as Lee's guide Friday at an Upper East Side lunch to benefit Citymeals-on-Wheels. Kasirer told NY1 that she and Lee are good friends.

New York's former first lady, Silda Wall Spitzer, was also there and offered Lee a dash of advice.

"I hope she has fun and enjoys," said Spitzer.

Diana Taylor said Lee have to be prepared to take a backseat at times.

"It's totally fun. The thing that is going to be hard for Sandra is that she's a businesswoman on her own. She has her own TV show and one thing that is going to be interesting is that when she's with Andrew, it's all about Andrew," said Taylor.

The couples are similar, to be sure. But unlike Diana Taylor and Mayor Bloomberg, Andrew Cuomo's girlfriend is arguably much more famous than he is.

"Maybe Andrew is going to have to get used to that," said Taylor.

It's not just on TV that Lee shines bright. She is featured in this year's holiday window display at Barney's on Madison Avenue, and there she wears a crown right on top of her head.
