Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is firing back, a day after Republican candidate for governor, Carl Paladino took aim at her during a campaign stop.
In a statement, Gillibrand says she doesn't take a back seat to anyone when it comes to fighting for New York. The statement goes on to say Paladino's behavior and name calling are offensive to women and unacceptable.
At a rally on Long Island yesterday, Paladino referred to the state's junior senator as Senator Charles Schumer's "little girl,” "and Schumer's little girl there that he's running against."
His comments came as he was praising Gillibrand's opponent – Republican Joe DioGuardi.
Earlier in the day, the Buffalo businessman lumped in his Democrat rival Andrew Cuomo among those who are to blame for the dysfunction in Albany.
Paladino will be upstate today.
Cuomo is holding a community event on Long Island.
