River to River Festival

Dancer Paul-Andre Fortier is in the midst of performing a 30-minute dance every day for for 30 consecutive days. Check it out any day at noon now through August 14. The location is One New York Plaza at Water Street between Whitehall and Broad Streets.

19th Annual Dixon Place "Hot! Festival"

This weekend it's a celebration of queer culture in New York City with a slew of eclectic offerings Thursday, Friday and Saturday and next week as well. The festival hub is the brand new Dixon Place theater complex at 161A Chrystie Street on the Lower East Side. Check the calendar because there are free and ticket shows now through August 7.

Fragile Planet at The Society of Illustrators

More than 100 of the worlds’s most accomplished illustrators use their art to showcase their view on the state of the world and the environment. The Society of Illustrators is located at 128 East 63rd Street (between Park and Lexington Avenues).

Sonic Youth Concert

Celebrate Brooklyn with a free concert this weekend by new wave music pioneers Sonic Youth. Thurson Moore along with wife, Kim Gordon, will be performing Saturday night at the Prospect Park Bandshell. The concert starts at 7 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m. Also on the bill -- "Grass Widow" and Brooklyn's own musical noise duo "Talk Normal."

DJ Dan Fortune

DJ Dan Fortune will be spinning unique sounds Saturday night at the Time Out New York Lounge at New World Stages at 340 West 50th Street. Fortune calls it a night of swinging jazz, lush bossa nova, martini classics and music that makes you feel like you're at a swank international cocktail party. The party takes place on the final Friday of each month from 9 p.m. until midnight. There's no cover and martini specials start at just $5.
