Brooklyn lawmakers filed suit against the Metropolitan Transportation Authority on Friday because of upcoming transit service cuts to the borough.
Brooklyn Senator Martin Golden and Councilman Vincent Gentile filed the lawsuit at the State Supreme Court, and claimed the MTA's slashing weekend bus service unfairly hurts senior citizens and disabled residents who rely on the routes.
"It's almost if the MTA is putting up a sign and saying, 'Brooklynites not welcome in Manhattan on the weekends, particularly if you're disabled or elderly,'" said Gentile.
Bus routes mentioned in the lawsuit include the weekend express X27 and X28 routes, the elimination of uptown service on the X37 and X38 buses, and the elimination of the B37 bus.
