www.www.jalc.orgReedman and true jazz virtuoso Ted Nash may be best known as a member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, but also has an exciting solo career as a performer, composer and bandleader.
The Ted Nash Quintet will be playing at Dizzy's now through Sunday, with special guests each night. The sets are are 7:30 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., plus 11:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. The cover charge is $30-$35.

This riveting one-woman show about life, love and addiction in New York City can be seen at Smoke Jazz and Supper Club on May 23, June 27 and July 18, before it heads to Scotland for the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. Showtime is 3:30 p.m. The cost is just $20 and includes brunch -- a real bargain for great theater.

www.danceparade.org It's a toss-up whether to put on your walking shoes or your dancing shoes for the fourth-annual Dance Parade, this Saturday at 1 p.m. After gathering at 20th Street between Park and Fifth Avenues, this mass dance event will boogie its way down Broadway with dozens of styles on display.
The parade ends with a dance fest in Tompkins Square Park at 3 p.m. No tickets are needed to view the parade, but dancers must register to participate.

For those of you whose weekend sometimes stretches into Monday, you're in for a real treat. Stride jazz pianist Mike Lipskin will be at Smalls Jazz Club on West 10th Street on Monday night at 7:30 and 9 PM.. Lipskin has been performing Stride jazz for 40-odd years.
Originally a New Yorker, today Lipskin lives in San Francisco, so it's a great chance to see him in the city playing the sounds of Harlem Stride. The $20 cover charge at Smalls is always good for the whole evening.
