Good Housekeeping Magazine celebrated its 125th Anniversary with a Midtown celebration of 125 women who have made a difference.
Actor Meryl Streep did a reading, musical legend Aretha Franklin sang for her supper and actor Jessica Simpson presented at the event.
"This is amazing, we're celebrating woman that can change the world, that have changed the world, that have made a huge impact," said Simpson. "I don't know if we've had that in a really long time. So I think that us all being here together as powerful women, we're just going to keep changing the world and dominating men!"
Good Housekeeping's editor-in-chief, Rosemary Ellis, said that the evening was all for a very good cause.
"This is all about Good Housekeeping's 125th Anniversary and a party that we're throwing, not just to celebrate that, but to raise money for the National Women's History Museum, which we're trying to get built," said Ellis.
TV host Martha Stewart was a clear choice for one of the 125 women who have made a difference.
George Whipple: Why did you turn out for the 125th of Good Housekeeping, which is a competitor really of yours?
Stewart: Well, I was named one of the 125 women.
Whipple: That's a good reason!
Stewart: Yeah!
Whipple: Are you gonna be in the Women's History Museum?
Stewart: I hope so.
