The Guinness World Records' global search for the tallest living woman began on Friday with a Flatiron District party and "measure-in" hosted by the Tall Club of New York City.

Women submitted their applications and had a chance to mingle with other tall people.

"All applications for tallest living woman must be done through the Guinness World Records website and the final title holder will be included in the Guinness World Records book," said an organizer.

"It was just really a gas to be with so many tall people because usually I have to be around my family to be around that many tall people," said an attendee.

The tallest woman at Friday's event stood six-feet-seven-inches tall.
