Whether in the classroom or the boardroom, the fashion-conscious will benefit from the latest lines by Cynthia Steffe and Yigal Azrouel. NY1's Jessica Abo filed the following report.

If you want to ace your look this fall, get out your number-two pencil and take copious notes from Cynthia Steffe’s new collection. With powerful parkas, plain poplin shirts and perfectly-pleated windowpane skirts and dresses, creative designer Shaun Kearney teaches how to mix the masculinity of the military with a touch of romance and femininity. It's a lesson he learned on the streets of New York.

"I was hanging out in Brooklyn and I saw these boys and girls hanging out together. The boys had a lot of dapper, military styles -- little boys' shirts, slouchy pants, little military boots. And the girls had military capes on with romantic blouses, little Mary Janes and skirts," says Kearney. "It was like they were all in this really cool school uniform and it really started from there."

Kearny keeps true to the Steffe brand with lots of little vests, light leather jackets and adds lengthy thigh-highs to each look, creating a "preppy chic" vibe.

"There was an absolutely gorgeous shearling vest that would just do great for the line. The short cropped jacket with detailing was just beautiful," says Bloomingdale's manager Letia Scales.

"They were all pieces you could bust out in August and layer them up and wear them well into the winter," says Kate Dimmock of People StyleWatch Magazine.

While Steffe’s staples can take you to the head of the class, Israeli designer Yigal Azrouël has powersuits you can sport straight to that corner office.

"I think that a woman in a suit, it’s a woman who's very strong," he says. "She knows what she wants. She's not shy about herself, she's the boss."

Women in suits may be the bosses, but it’s equal opportunity when it comes to being fashion-forward. This fall, women will be wearing subtle patchwork, strong detailed shoulders and tailored tops and pants. Men, however, will be in skinny leggings, knit cardigans and tubular neck warmers.

Azrouël recommends taking out the rouge, butterscotch and purple pieces but leaving the hosiery at home.

"Even for fall, I think it’s so modern, so minimal," he says.

Azrouel says that simplicity will help maximize personality while dressing for success.
