The areas with the highest hunger rates in the country can be found in the five boroughs.

According to a nationwide survey by Gallup and the Food Research Action Center, Congressional District 16, which encompasses parts of Morrisania, Mott Haven and Bedford Park in the Bronx, has the highest hunger rate in the nation.

District 10, which includes Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brownsville, Canarsie and East New York, Brooklyn, ranked sixth.

The survey found a little more than 17 percent of New York households did not have enough money to buy food. The rate jumped to more than 23 percent for households with children.

Gallup analyzed data from more than 500,000 households over the past two years for the survey.
