The New York Times says it plans to charge readers who want unlimited access to its website.
People who visit
NYTimes.com will get a certain number of free articles on a monthly basis, before being asked to pay a fee for unlimited access.
The exact monthly cost or limit on free articles has yet to be determined, and Times executives say access could change with time, based on economic climate.
The good news for subscribers of the print version of the paper is that they will receive full access to the site.
The changes are expected to take effect early next year.
