High-Profile Tech Executives Discuss Challenges Facing Women in Industry

A local organization brought several high-profile tech executives into the spotlight Monday in celebration of Women's History Month.

Trailblazing tech titans came together to discuss the challenges and barriers facing women in the industry, but also to give advice to aspiring young entrepreneurs.

It was all part of a Q and A put together by the UJA Federation of New York to bring women together in an empowering setting.

"We believe that it's all about what you do and how you do it, and not about who you are or where you've been" said Michelle Kadir, director of product development for Spotify. "I must say that I really enjoy being a woman in tech, and I rarely think about that I am a woman in tech, and that's a good thing."

"We need more women designing software, designing user experiences, helping design products that are going to be relevant to women as a demographic," said Debra Bednar, global head of strategy and growth at Facebook Creative Shop. "That is what I'm trying to encourage, that's why I'm trying to encourage more and more women to go into the industry."

UJA Federation of New York puts on panels like this one throughout the year.
