Transit Riders Give Low Marks To Express Bus Service
July 04, 2008 Transit riders gave low marks to express bus service in the city's first ever rating of the service. Riders gave the entire service a grade of a "C". Riders in the Bronx, Manhattan and Queens rated their service a "C+". Brooklyn riders gave service a "C-". Staten Island residers say their service is the worst, giving it a "D+". When it came to specifics, riders gave a "B-" to the overall clarity of bus signs, courtesy of operators and dispatchers, and ease of fare payments. "Seat availability", "smooth handling of the bus", and bus cleanliness got a "C+". Informative bus announcements got a "C-". Wait times got a "D+" overall. Not surprisingly, riders chose wait times as their first priority for improving express bus service. For a full list of grades for all bus routes, go to mta.info.
