Broadway is finding its way onto the high seas. NY1's Travel reporter Valarie D'Elia filed the following report.

When Broadway puts its show on the road these days, it doesn't always mean an obscure tour in America's smaller cities. Now the Great White Way is finding its way onto the high seas.

Giving your regards to Broadway these days doesn't simply mean buying a ticket at TKTS. When you can book passage on an LGBT getaway, sailing on the Norwegian Star, the show comes to you.

This will be the ninth gay and lesbian family-friendly cruise that R Family Vacations is offering, and like many of the others, this one has an emphasis on Broadway entertainment.

Rates for NCL's Alaska cruise chartered by R Family Vacations start at $799 per person, based on double occupancy. They can be booked at 1-212-703-2486 or info@rfamilyvacations.com.

The seven-day Alaska cruise sails round trip from Seattle, starting on July 11. Headliners include Broadway cast members from "Wicked," "Les Miserables," "title of show," "Chicago" and "Xanadu."

In addition, Rosie's Broadway Kids program gives guests the opportunity to learn a Broadway routine and perform it in the ship's theater.

Another show that's developing its sea legs is the Tony Award-winning musical "Hairspray," which closed earlier this year at the Neil Simon Theatre. It is set to debut for a three-year contract on Royal Caribbean's highly-anticipated megaliner Oasis of the Seas.

The 220,000 ton ship, which will be the biggest one afloat, will set sail from Port Everglades in December.

Even off-Broadway shows are testing the waters. Circle Line Sightseeing will host four productions of "Tony 'n' Tina's Wedding" each Friday this June with a Hawaiian-themed wedding and dinner for $87. For more information, visit www.CircleLine42.com.
