At-risk seniors can beat the summer heat by taking advantage of the New York City Cooling Assistance Program.
Residents 60 years old and above can apply for free air conditioners from the city.
To qualify, applicants need a written statement from a health care provider showing they are at greater risk for illness because of the heat, and must meet certain income eligibility requirements.
For more information, call the city's information hotline at 311 or go to nyc.gov/html/doh.
