An FDNY rescue team saved a family of seven from the rough waters of the East River Saturday.

Four adults and three children were plucked from a recreational boat that began to take on water and was on the verge of capsizing.

An FDNY patrol responded to a mayday call, and pulled all seven people to safety.

"They were taking on water, we arrived, timing couldn't have been better. There were going in the water, we came alongside, we were able to pull them onto our boat and rescue them," said FDNY Captain Lou Guzzo.

"I tried to maintain my composure because everybody was yelling and try to as they come because we were close to the edge of the river, so could have happened, so thank God we have life vests on," said Ata Delorbe.

Officials say the boat began to take on water after being pounded by three to four foot waves.
