Police were still searching Sunday for the driver of a car that struck and critically injured a toddler in Queens.

Police say relatives were watching Jaylein Peralta, 2, on Friday night but the girl still wandered out of her home in Woodhaven and onto Rockaway Boulevard and 85th Street.

Peralta's aunt said the child taught herself how to unlock and open doors.

The girl was hit by a car that took off, according to police. She was then taken to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition and later transferred to another hospital.

"It appears that she was hit by a car and the car left, but we have no witnesses at this time," said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly. We're checking our cameras to see if there's any information on those cameras."

Police say they do not have a description of the driver or the car.

They also say the child's family is not facing any criminal charges.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.
