The MTA kicked off a comprehensive survey of the travel habits of city residents today.
Letters will be mailed out randomly to nearly 200,000 people asking them to fill out a questionnaire and spend about 20 minutes on the phone talking about their use of transit with a pollster. Cell phone users will be compensated for the cost of the call.
The MTA says it will use the results to help plan service and infrastructure improvements.
