Today elected officials, celebrities and city residents pay tribute to Ed Koch. The famously combative mayor who rescued New York City from near-financial ruin during a three-term City Hall run died early this morning. Ed Koch was 88. Koch was admitted to the hospital on Monday with shortness of breath, and was moved to intensive care on Thursday for closer monitoring of fluid in his lungs and legs.
