Yankees team captain and five-time World Champion Derek Jeter can now add "Sportsman of the Year" to his list of titles.
Sports Illustrated has awarded the title to the Yankees shortstop, making him the first Bronx Bomber to win it.
Jeter led the Yanks to their 27th world title this year and finished third in Most Valuable Player voting.
He also hit .334, won his fourth Gold Glove and set a new Yankee record by surpassing Lou Gehrig's 70-year career hits mark.
Jeter also won the Roberto Clemente Award for excellence on and off the field.
In naming Jeter the Sportsman of the Year, the magazine's editor praised the "dignity and elegance" he brings to baseball.
