Police arrived on the scene at 690 Allerton Street around 7:30 last night and found a woman who had been shot in the face.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her identity has not yet been released.

People who live in the building say the woman's boyfriend had been abusive, and claim a tape was given to the Administration for Children's Services over the summer proving it – though ACS says that may not be true.

Neighbors also say the pair has a young child.
