According to a new Quinnipiac poll released today, State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo is the preferred choice of New Yorkers to fill the Senate seat being vacated by Hillary Clinton.

The poll found 31 percent support Cuomo, with 24 percent choosing Caroline Kennedy. Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney was the third pick, with six percent.

Last month, Kennedy led Cuomo by four percentage points.

The director of the polling institute says Kennedy's stumbling start in her first interviews, including her first one on NY1<8LINK>, may have cost her the lead.

Quinnipiac surveyed more than 1,600 registered voters throughout the state in the past week. The poll's margin of error is plus or minus 2.4 percentage points.
