The six-year-old Manhattan girl who has captured the hearts of many New Yorkers with her battle against leukemia was supposed to be at the national turkey pardoning, but was not able to make it.

Jasmina Anema's dream of meeting of President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama is on hold for now due to a medical emergency. The six-year-old girl from Greenwich Village was rushed to Children's Hospital in Washington Wednesday morning, where she remains at this time.

Her mother says it is still unclear what caused Jasmina's medical emergency, but she says doctors are looking into whether the little girl suffered a seizure.

Anema, who became well-known after thousands of people and several celebrities joined in the effort to find her a bone marrow donor, was supposed to meet the president today – courtesy of the Make-a-Wish Foundation. She was hoping to talk to the president about ways to help children with cancer.

The meeting was especially significant for Anema because she was diagnosed with leukemia earlier this year on Inauguration Day.

Despite a recent bone marrow procedure, doctors say Anema's leukemia has worsened.

Earlier this month, she was thought to be cancer-free, but doctors say her red blood cell count has since dropped, likely indicating the cancer is returning.
