New Yorkers turned out in droves this past weekend to get free H1N1/swine flu vaccines at city clinics.
More than 15,000 people were vaccinated at clinics across the five boroughs over the weekend. That's a huge increase over the previous weekend, when fewer than 4,000 people were vaccinated.
After the low turnout, the city opened the clinics to pregnant women, anyone aged four to 24, and those age 25 to 64 with an underlying medical condition such as asthma or diabetes. Also, anyone in close contact with newborns is eligible.
The clinics will be open again next weekend.
